Purse bid to be held for Okolie vs. Lerena fight to take place on October 8th

The World Boxing Council will hold a purse bid for the mandatory fight between bridgeweight champion Lawrence Okolie and interim champion Kevin Lerena on October 8th, at the traditional WBC “Martes de Cafe” press conference.
Okolie (20-1, 15 KOs) captured the WBC bridgeweight title with an impressive first-round TKO performance over former champion Lukasz Rozanski last May.
Lerena (30-3, 14 KOs) suffered a close loss at heavyweight in his most recent fight in a competitive battle against Justis Huni. The WBC Interim Bridger title was won by defeating Ryad Merhy in 2023.
